Lay Ministry

Do you wish to develop a deeper understanding of your faith and feel a strong commitment to volunteering? Lay ministry or volunteering is great a way to contribute your talents to the church community.

Barbara Buchanan and the pastoral staff would welcome an opportunity to explore your interests with you. Please take some time to think about where you would like to invest your time and creativity.

Before You Decide

It may help you to read one woman’s inspirational story (PDF) of 35 years of volunteering, be inspired by a preschool for children with multiple handicaps, one amazing grandmother passing on the gift of volunteering to her grandchildren and join volunteers as they bring ministry in a woman's prison.

NEW: Read the story of Evergreen Drop In Centre volunteers Betsy Pellowe and Heather Beard.

You can also read more about stewardship and view on our screening process for volunteers in our Responsible Ministry Pamphlet (PDF).

  Sound Booth Operators

Sunday services at Eglinton St. George’s are the work of many hands.  Those who operate the sound booth ensure that we can all hear and they record the service to share with those who can’t be with us in person each Sunday.  We are looking for a few more volunteers to help out, about one Sunday a month. There will be a training session on Sunday November 25 after church.

If you are interested in becoming part of the team please contact Barbara Buchanan
(416-481-1141 ext 260, barbara@esgunited.org) if you are interested. or George Leslie, geo.con@sympatico.ca.

Greeters Greeters are an important part of the warm welcome we all feel when we come to church on Sunday morning.  Six are on duty every Sunday to greet, help people find a seat, welcome new people and connect them to church school, coffee and introduce them to others, take up collection and many other small actions that build community and hospitality at Eglinton St. George’s.  We are always looking for new folks to participate in this way. Gail Horrick is the Coordinator of the Greeters and will give you lots of support and guidance.   If you can greet every Sunday for a month or a few Sundays throughout the year, please contact Barbara Buchanan
(416-481-1141 ext 260, barbara@esgunited.org) if you are interested. Families are welcome. It also helps if you can let us know what is the best time of year for us to schedule you.

  Concert Committee

We are seeking members to serve on a Concert Committee responsible for producing two or three Eglinton St. George’s Concerts each year in cooperation with Peter Merrick and the Choir.
