Hiking the Bruce Trail Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am near Mansfield.

Pat Brodie, who has hiked in groups all over the world, will lead a 3 hour hike starting near Mansfield (1.5 hours from Toronto). Bring a bag lunch and water bottle and plan to enjoy a wonderful day exploring the famous Bruce Trail.

What is it like to go on a pilgrimage? On Tuesday September 30, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. ESG presents a discussion about walking across France and Spain to
Santiago de Compostela. Facilitated by Connie Capes-Leslie, this event includes some of our own Church Members who have walked the Camino, including Peter
Merrick and Ken and Willie Smee. Come and learn about new beginnings which can arise from going on a pilgrimage.

Finding Vocation: Clarity + Courage = Confidence Wednesdays, October 8, 15, 22, 29

ESG is proud to host Rev. Dr. Tim Elliott and this Centre for Spirituality at Work event. Most people spend more time planning a vacation than they do
thinking about their life. Clarity and courage are both necessary to move forward with confidence. Tim Elliott, a retired Anglican priest, is a vocation consultant and gifted jazz pianist who will
facilitate using stories, music, and group discussions. Dealing with career restlessness, retirement, job loss, or other major life changes? This is the program for you! Cost: $175 plus $20 for his book and handouts.

Taizé Worship and Workshop Saturday, January 17, 9:30 am -12:30 pm. @ ESG This gentle Saturday morning mini-retreat will offer an introduction to the life, history and mission of the ecumenical Taizé community in France, including an audio-visual presentation by Brother Roger, the founder of Taizé. Share in a beautiful experience of “Prayer With the Songs of Taizé” (worship enriched by singing, scripture, silence, fresh flowers, and candles).

Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs, Part 2 Tuesday, January 27 at

Last year’s exploration of “the people’s music” was stimulating and enjoyable—so much so, we only made it to the 17th century! So, by popular demand, Peter Merrick will tell the rest of the story. Come for stories and singing, including a close look at the new United Church resource, More Voices.

Week of Guided Prayer February 22 - 28, 2009

The Week of Guided Prayer is an opportunity for you to grow with God through private personal prayer.
Commitment involves spending 30 minutes praying scripture at home, and then coming to Eglinton St. George's and spending time with a "prayer companion"
for another 30 minutes each day of the retreat week, from Monday to Friday. Our Week of Guided Prayer is focussed on enabling participants to attend a prayer
"retreat" while still maintaining their normal daily routine. The opening two-hour session will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 22 and will include instruction on praying scripture. The closing two-hour session will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 28th.

Lenten Book Study Wednesdays, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1
7:30 - 9:30 pm. @ ESG

Throughout Lent, one of the ministers will lead a weekly discussion of the book Where the Spirit Dwells, Lenten Reflections on Home, by Glenys M. Huws. The book calls us to transform not
only our own homes, but “our church home, our community home, and our earth home into something closer
to God’s intention.” Copies of the paperback will be available for purchase prior to the first meeting.

interfaith advocate), Rabbi Jordan Cohen (Senior Rabbi at Temple Anshe Sholom in Hamilton) and Ted Schmidt
(recently retired editor of the Catholic New Times). With all three of these individuals committed to meaningful inter-faith conversation, this evening is one not to be missed. .

For Peace and Remembrance Friday, May 8 at 7:30 pm. @ ESG In our choir’s final concert of the season, Duruflé’s sublime Requiem is paired with a recent work: The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins. This work - exciting, moving, and incredibly accessible -recently had its Canadian premiere to great acclaim.
