Small Groups

Small Groups provide an opportunity for people with similar interests to gather and explore their topic of interest for a 6-10 week time period. Do you have an interest that isn't represented below? Share it with us. We will provide some training notes and guidance about setting up a group, guidelines for group process and other helpful hints. Congregational Life Group TBC for 2008/2009

Be a part of a team that plans congregational events to help build a sense of
community. Individuals can work on one or more events.
Good Food Boxes Our team meets monthly to pack boxes of low cost, good quality fresh produce to

Coping with Caregiving TBC for 2008/2009 Lynne Gallagher of the Seniors & Caregivers Support Services of the Family Services Association of Toronto will be our guest
speaker on this topic of great importance whether you help care for an aging parent, partner, neighbour or friend. Light refreshments will be served.

Flower Group/ Committee Ongoing @ ESG This dedicated group of 17 women meets four or five times a year to set work schedules and plan special decorations. Their regular responsibilities include supplying and arranging the flowers each Sunday for the Chancel and Narthex, decorating the church for Christmas and Easter, care for the flower urns in front of the church, and supplying flowers for special events (e.g. new members receptions).

If you would like to help out and learn flower arranging at the same time, new members are most welcome.

Grief Group Wednesdays in 2009 (dates TBC)

Have you experienced a loss due to death, divorce or job termination?

These four sessions by Deborah Hart will explore the “tasks” of the grieving process from a personal and spiritual perspective, with the goal of helping people move forward on
their life journeys.

Lenten Book Study Wednesdays in 2009 (dates TBC)

Throughout Lent, Rob Oliphant and Peter Merrick will lead aseries of discussions on the book The Geometry of Love byMargaret Visser. Although the series is intended to prepare thosewho will go on the choir tour to Italy in July 2008, anyone interested in this moving and spiritual book about church architecture, history and how Christianity has shaped Western culture is invited to attend.

A group for women age 30-40+ focusing on service, spiritual growth and social interaction. Meets four or five times a year and also organizes and participates in a vari­ety of special projects and events (e.g. Eva's Phoenix Dinner, Almond Bark Making).

Visit congregational members confined to home or an institutional setting. This team of people with caring spirits meets approximately every 4-6 weeks for support and on-going training.

Peace with Justice  Once a month on Thursday evenings over a brown bag supper, September to June. Committed to the Global Village and exploring Peace with Justice issues through information gathering (videos, printed media); attending pertinent workshops and meetings; letter writing in response to material provided by Ploughshares Monitor and Amnesty International Activist.

Yoga and Meditation

Mondays 1:30-3:00 p.m. (Seniors) & Monday 7:30-9:00 p.m. @ ESG in the Lower West Wing Studio

Yoga and Meditation Stretching and postures, relaxation and meditation are essential components of each class. Monday afternoons (1:30 -3:00 pm) cater to seniors with more gentle stretch­ing while Monday
evenings 7:30 - 9:00 pm, are more rigorous. Evening sessions begin on September 15. After­noon sessions begin on October 20. Cost: $12 per session for minimum of 6 sessions. Newcomers should attend an
introductory session before attending classes.
