Prior to joining ESG, Deborah enjoyed 12 years (1987-99) in team ministry at Royal York Road United Church in Etobicoke where she was involved in Christian Development and Outreach, as well as sharing the pastoral care and worship responsibilities. After ordination in 1984 by Toronto Conference, some of Deborah’s best memories include the three years she spent at a 3-point rural pastoral charge on the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border. She was fondly reminded of her upbringing in Attercliffe Station just outside of Dunnville in Southern Ontario.

Deborah earned her first degree in Physical and Health Education at the University of Toronto (1980). She then completed her Master of Divinity from Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto (1984), and a year of internship in Vancouver, B.C. In 1993, she completed her Doctor of Ministry from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago with an emphasis in Pastoral Ministry, and a special interest in grief and the grieving process.

Deborah’s combination of Physical and Health Education with ministry and pastoral care training has given her passion for care of the whole person – body, mind and spirit, and ESG’s blossoming well-being ministry.(want to cross link to the wellbeing page)

When not at the church Deborah enjoys yoga, Curves, clergy curling, travel, photography and spending time with family and friends.
